About the Team
Minnesota's purple-and-gold faithful — a franchise of dramatic eras still chasing its first title.
Through the Years
Franchise History
Founded in 1961 and a contender almost from birth, winning the 1969 NFL championship in the league's final pre-merger season. The Purple People Eaters reached Super Bowls IV, VIII, IX, and XI in a decade. The 1998 15–1 team and 2009 Brett Favre run added to the franchise's heartbreak lore.
