Through the Years
Franchise History
An AFL charter team founded in Los Angeles in 1960 that moved to San Diego in 1961, winning the 1963 AFL championship behind Sid Gillman's revolutionary offense. LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers carried the San Diego years; the club returned to LA in 2017. The powder-blue jerseys remain a fan favorite across generations.
